In a rare event, a solo Bitcoin miner recently processed a block on the Bitcoin network, earning a total of 3.329 Bitcoin worth approximately $222,438. This achievement occurred at 4:18 AM ET, involving 3,285 transactions within the processed block. Despite a significant increase in mining difficulty, which has made mining predominantly a corporate endeavor, individuals can still occasionally reap substantial rewards. The mining process has become more challenging since the most recent reward halving event in April, during which the block reward decreased from 6.25 Bitcoin to 3.125 Bitcoin. Over time, the mining reward has halved multiple times, significantly affecting solo miners' potential earnings. However, the increasing value of Bitcoin—up 548,604% since the first halving—continues to incentivize miners to persist in this energy-intensive task. In 2024 alone, other solo miners have also enjoyed major successes.
