Tether CEO to take cautious approach to US expansion, eyes larger profits
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has indicated that the company may expand its presence in the United States, but is adopting a cautious stance while awaiting clarity on regulatory developments. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Ardoino emphasized the need for regulatory guidance before making any decisions. He expressed optimism about the potential for a favorable regulatory landscape in the US, especially with new leadership prioritizing cryptocurrency. Recently, Tether has moved its operations from the British Virgin Islands to El Salvador, where it has been granted a digital asset service provider license. Ardoino highlighted El Salvador's robust digital assets licensing framework as a model for other countries. Financially, Tether is expected to exceed its previous profit forecast of $10 billion for 2024, following a strong performance in 2023. Tether's stablecoin currently holds a market capitalization of $137 billion, accounting for 64% of the market share.
