The Week’s Biggest Funding Rounds: Biotech And Space Tech Bring In The Money
This week saw notable funding rounds primarily in biotech and space technology sectors. Medical data research company Truveta secured $320 million to advance its operations in building a vast genetic database, achieving a valuation of over $1 billion. In the space sector, Stoke Space raised $260 million for its development of reusable rockets aimed at reducing the cost of space access. Colossal Biosciences, focusing on de-extinction, raised $200 million, while Tune Therapeutics, working on epigenetic therapies, garnered $175 million. Loft Orbital and Caidya, both in space and biotech respectively, also reported substantial funding rounds. Other significant deals included Phantom Technologies in crypto and various startups in electric vehicles and data management, each securing $100 million or more. Overall, venture funding in 2024 saw robust participation, particularly in the space tech domain, indicating a resurgence after a slower 2023.
