Roman Storm, a developer of Tornado Cash, will have his criminal trial postponed to April after a New York judge ruled on a four-month delay. This extension allows both parties time to resolve an ongoing dispute over the disclosure of expert witnesses. Originally set to begin in December, the trial will now commence on April 14 and is anticipated to last for two weeks. Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the Southern District of New York mandated that both sides exchange information regarding potential expert witnesses, which Storm's legal team, led by Brian Klein, contested. They argue that disclosing their witnesses would compromise their defense strategy and potentially violate legal standards governing such disclosures. Storm faces serious charges, including conspiracy to facilitate money laundering, operating as an unlicensed money transmitter, and violating sanctions, with a potential sentence of up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
