Transak has reported a data breach affecting over 92,000 users due to a phishing attack that compromised an employee's laptop. The attacker accessed sensitive user information, including names, dates of birth, passport details, driver's licenses, and selfies from the vendor's dashboard. However, Transak confirmed that no financial information, such as email addresses, passwords, or credit card details, was compromised in the incident. Affected users have been notified, and the company has alerted data protection authorities in the UK and regulators in the EU and the US. This breach follows a similar incident involving Fidelity Investments, where over 77,000 customers were affected in a series of breaches over the past year.
