The U.S. government has recently converted over 82,000 ANT tokens from the seized assets of Alameda Research into Ethereum (ETH), marking the first activity in its wallet since the firm's collapse. The transactions, conducted through AragonDAO’s redemption process, generated approximately $1.07 million in ETH. Following these conversions, the government wallet now holds around $974,000 in various cryptocurrencies. This liquidation indicates an effort to recover value from seized crypto assets and suggests potential further activity. The Aragon Association is in the process of dissolving, which has allowed token redemptions until November 2, 2024. Following this deadline, any remaining ANT tokens will be burned. These actions come in light of ongoing efforts to address the fallout from the collapse of both Alameda and FTX, with former executives facing legal repercussions for their roles in the downfall. Caroline Ellison, ex-CEO of Alameda, has been sentenced to two years after cooperating with authorities, shedding light on the risky financial practices that contributed to the collapse.
