US lawmaker doubles down on crypto promises after Trump win
Following the Republican Party's anticipated majority in the US Senate, Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming has reiterated her commitment to establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve. In a recent post, she revealed plans for the government to acquire one million BTC, approximately 5% of the total supply, with intentions to hold it for at least two decades. This proposal aligns with an idea that was previously suggested by Donald Trump during his presidential campaign. With potential changes in Senate control after Election Day, Lummis and her colleagues may secure the necessary votes to advance this legislation. Despite not seeking re-election, Lummis continues to champion pro-crypto policies amid a political landscape that favors cryptocurrency. The anticipated Republican victory includes the presidency and control of both Senate and possibly the House, leading to a notable increase in Bitcoin's price, surpassing $76,000.
