Virtuals Protocol, focused on artificial intelligence agents, addressed a critical vulnerability found in its audited smart contract by pseudonymous researcher Jinu. After discovering the bug on Dec. 3, Jinu reported it to Virtuals, only to find out that the company did not have an active bug bounty program at the time. The vulnerability could have hindered AgentToken generation, which prompted an urgent fix from Virtuals Protocol. Following public revelation of the issue, the Virtuals team reached out to Jinu, implemented a patch, and expressed gratitude for the discovery, promising to assess the issue's severity for a potential bounty. Although mechanisms to ensure security were lacking, Jinu had initially been drawn to the project after a friend's investment and spent time reviewing the code before uncovering the flaw. Cointelegraph has contacted Virtuals Protocol for more information.
