Vitalik Buterin urges Web3 wallets to improve security, privacy
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has called on Web3 wallet developers to enhance privacy and security features in a blog post dated December 3, 2024. He criticized the current trend of relegating privacy to a select few specialized wallets and instead urged that privacy features be integrated universally across all Web3 wallets. Buterin also discussed the need for multisignature authorization to bolster security across these wallets. Furthermore, he emphasized simplifying transactions between Ethereum's layer-2 (L2) scaling networks, such as Optimism and Arbitrum, proposing that wallets should allow users to send tokens directly using new address formats that indicate the target L2 network. This initiative aims to streamline user experience and make transactions between different L2 networks more straightforward. Buterin has consistently encouraged faster decentralization of these L2 solutions and plans to only support those which have an active proof scheme by 2025.
