Web3 gaming still ‘immature’ but presents opportunities
At Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai, Cointelegraph engaged with Pixels CEO Luke Barwikowski and Farcana Founder Ilman Shazhaev regarding the state of Web3 gaming. Barwikowski emphasized the stage of immaturity the sector is currently in, outlining significant challenges such as user identification, bot prevention, and overall user quality as barriers that need addressing. He mentioned that Pixels is working on solutions to these problems by implementing systems that assess user behavior via on-chain data. Conversely, Shazhaev spoke on the advantages that Web3 offers to gaming companies, arguing that it enables faster development compared to traditional gaming frameworks. He stated that while a large number of traditional gaming projects struggle, Web3 allows for quick fundraising, business development, and marketing, showcasing how Farcana was able to progress within two years what would typically span four or five years in the traditional gaming space. Both executives highlighted the potential for innovation in the growing arena of Web3 gaming despite its current hurdles.
