Sui, a MoveVM-based layer-1 blockchain, announced last Thursday that Samurai Shodown R, a roleplaying game based on the classic 1993 Sega fighting game, will be available on its forthcoming SuiPlay0X1 handheld gaming device. The game, re-released as an MMORPG in 2019, is being developed by Lumiwave, which specializes in bringing intellectual property onchain. Anthony Palma from Mysten Labs emphasized the unique infrastructure of Sui that enables features like evolving NFTs and in-game asset ownership. Samurai Shodown R will utilize Web3 elements such as dynamically evolving NFTs, based on player progression, and “zkLogins” that allow players to use familiar Web2 credentials like Facebook and Google. Furthermore, TapSwap is launching a new Web3 gaming platform aimed at enhancing tap-to-earn games by addressing challenges such as user retention and reward clarity through skill-based competitions for TAPS token rewards. Other notable mentions include Pudgy Penguins collaborating with Mythical Games for a mobile game, Devour launching a platform for food ordering while gaming, and WineChain expanding its marketplace with new fine wines.
