What is Grevm 1.0? The ‘Ultra-Fast’ Engine Powering Galxe’s Gravity Blockchain
Grevm 1.0 is an open-source, parallel Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) runtime at the core of Gravity's Layer 1 Blockchain, designed to enhance Ethereum's workload capacity. It operates by allowing multiple transactions or smart contracts to run simultaneously rather than sequentially, significantly improving performance during high demand periods. Grevm leverages an algorithm influenced by BlockSTM, a parallel execution engine created by a team from multiple institutions. Its integration of Asynchronous I/O allows for overlapping tasks, enhancing throughput, especially under high-latency conditions. Benchmarking indicates that Grevm can process transactions 4.13 times faster than traditional sequential execution and even more so in high-latency environments. Grevm aims to support various projects within Gravity’s ecosystem, improving transaction speed and scalability. It is utilized by platforms offering Web3 community engagement and digital identity solutions, among others. Additionally, Gravity's native G token is essential for transactions and governance within the network, with plans for a Grevm 2.0 release in early 2025 to further refine its capabilities.
