Worldcoin, now rebranded as World, has launched its Ethereum layer-2 network called World Chain, focusing on onboarding real human users rather than bots. The initiative aims to promote digital identity tools and financial freedom, targeting users who can truly benefit from blockchain technology. World Chain promises faster and cheaper transactions compared to Ethereum's mainnet and offers gas subsidies for verified human users. By utilizing Optimism's OP Stack, the project seeks to attract developers to create decentralized applications with practical applications. The World ID system will provide users with access to prioritized blockspace, and the network will support global on and off-ramps in over 150 countries. This initiative is particularly aimed at underserved populations needing stablecoins for cross-border transactions and protection against local currency inflation. The team believes that these services will drive the adoption of World Chain.
