80,000 Government Workers in El Salvador To Undergo Bitcoin Training

In a groundbreaking move, El Salvador is launching a comprehensive Bitcoin certification program for 80,000 government employees, signaling its commitment to integrating cryptocurrency into public administration. The initiative, spearheaded by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), is designed to enhance the strategic management of Bitcoin as legal tender across the nation.

The 160-hour virtual course, dubbed “Certification in Public Administration 1,” covers seven in-depth modules that explore various aspects of Bitcoin’s legal and economic applications. This training aims to build a workforce capable of navigating the complexities of Bitcoin-based public policies, laying the foundation for long-term economic success.

Stacy Herbert, ONBTC’s director, believes this educational effort will have a “compounding effect” on the nation’s Bitcoin-driven economy. She views these initiatives as crucial for El Salvador’s future, particularly in solidifying its position as a global leader in Bitcoin adoption.

The certification is conducted by the Higher School of Innovation in Public Administration (ESIAP), established by President Nayib Bukele in 2021. The program underscores the government’s dedication to raising the standard of governance through specialized crypto education.

El Salvador’s success with Bitcoin has caught the eye of other nations grappling with economic instability. Argentina, for instance, has engaged with El Salvador to learn from its crypto adoption strategy. This collaboration could pave the way for further international partnerships focused on cryptocurrency regulation and adoption.

As Argentina continues to experiment with cryptocurrency under President Javier Milei, the lessons from El Salvador’s experience may prove invaluable in shaping global approaches to digital currencies.
