Crypto-Powered Travel Platform Travala Partners with Skyscanner

The crypto-centric travel platform Travala has taken a significant step in driving cryptocurrency adoption by partnering with Skyscanner, a global leader in travel search. This collaboration marks Skyscanner’s first venture into a crypto-native application, highlighting its commitment to offering diverse payment methods to a new generation of travelers.

Travala’s integration with Skyscanner brings its crypto payment options to over 110 million Skyscanner users, creating substantial mainstream exposure for cryptocurrency. Sanja Vukik, Skyscanner’s head of hotels, emphasized the partnership’s potential to make travel planning more accessible and flexible for those who prefer alternative payment methods.

With this collaboration, Travala aims to revolutionize travel for crypto enthusiasts by allowing bookings with over 100 different cryptocurrencies. Additionally, unlike traditional travel platforms such as Booking or Expedia, Travala offers cryptocurrency rewards instead of regular loyalty points, setting it apart from the competition.

Travala CEO Juan Otero sees this partnership as a way to introduce Web2 users to the world of Web3, using a familiar platform like Skyscanner to spark curiosity and adoption. With Skyscanner averaging over 80 billion daily searches, this move could draw a new wave of users to Travala’s crypto-driven travel services.

Founded in 2017, Travala already provides access to 2.2 million properties across 230 countries and booking options for more than 600 airlines. The collaboration with Skyscanner could significantly boost the visibility and utility of cryptocurrencies in everyday transactions, showcasing a “real” use case that might drive the next wave of mass adoption.
