Interpol Pursues Hex Founder Richard Heart for Alleged Crimes, Issues 'Red Notice'
Hex founder wanted by Interpol
Interpol has issued a "Red Notice" for Richard Schueler, better known as Richard Heart, the controversial founder of the Hex cryptocurrency. The notice, a global call for law enforcement to locate and provisionally arrest Schueler, stems from allegations of tax fraud and assault brought forward by Finnish authorities. While not an international arrest warrant, the Red Notice marks a significant escalation in the case against Schueler.
The allegations include physically assaulting a 16-year-old, with Finnish authorities claiming he grabbed the victim's hair, dragged them into a stairwell, and knocked them to the ground. Schueler is also accused of tax evasion between June 2020 and April 2024. The Red Notice follows a remand order issued on September 13, further spotlighting the founder's legal troubles.
Schueler’s financial dealings have also caught the attention of U.S. regulators. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alleges he raised over $1 billion through unregistered offerings of Hex, PulseChain, and PulseX tokens. Despite Schueler’s request to dismiss the case, the SEC maintains its authority to pursue the charges, arguing the tokens were marketed as gateways to substantial wealth.
Amid these allegations, Schueler has remained active on social media, cryptically addressing his critics. In a December post, he remarked, “Nothing makes haters angrier than success,” while boasting about raising $27 million for medical research.
Schueler’s presence on Europe’s most-wanted fugitives list and his ongoing legal battles paint a contentious picture of a figure once celebrated in the cryptocurrency world. His future, both legally and in the crypto space, remains uncertain as authorities ramp up their pursuit.
