Logan Paul Sues Coffeezilla for Defamation Over CryptoZoo Scam Accusations
YouTuber Logan Paul takes legal action against Coffeezilla
In a high-stakes legal battle, YouTube sensation Logan Paul has filed a defamation lawsuit against Stephen Findeisen, known as "Coffeezilla," over a series of videos alleging Paul’s CryptoZoo NFT project was a scam. The lawsuit, lodged in a San Antonio, Texas District Court, claims Findeisen "maliciously and repeatedly published false statements" about Paul’s involvement in CryptoZoo, a blockchain venture that faced significant challenges.
According to the June 27 court filing, Paul seeks to hold Findeisen accountable for the alleged damage to his reputation caused by the videos. Coffeezilla’s content, released in late 2022, accused Paul of defrauding NFT holders by not delivering on the promised project, branding it "Logan Paul’s biggest scam."
Paul counters these accusations by asserting that Coffeezilla deliberately omitted crucial information that demonstrated Paul’s genuine commitment to CryptoZoo’s success. Paul contends that he was misled by trusted advisers who turned out to be conmen. The lawsuit specifically names Eduardo "Eddie" Ibanez and Jake Greenbaum, accusing them of deceit and personal profiteering.
In an attempt to rectify the situation, Paul had previously planned a $1.5 million recovery initiative for CryptoZoo and spent $1 million buying back NFTs from January to March. Despite these efforts, Paul claims he has not earned any money from the project.
Now, Paul seeks over $75,000 in damages, plus interest, legal fees, and additional relief as determined by the court.
CryptoZoo, launched in 2021, aimed to be a game where players could buy NFT "eggs" that would hatch into animals, breed hybrid creatures, and trade them to earn more ZOO tokens. However, the project’s token has plummeted to nearly zero in value, marking a significant downfall from its initial promise.
As the legal battle unfolds, the crypto community watches closely, awaiting the court's decision on this contentious case.
