The creation of "Scent of the Metaverse" involved members of the DAO who gained access through an NFT ticket. This ticket offered an educational journey into fragrance making, leading to a collaborative effort in developing the perfume. As co-owners, these members played a pivotal role in every aspect, from the scent's formula to its packaging, with their names featured on the product.

Rook Perfumes leveraged its existing partnership with Harvey Nichols to bring this novel fragrance to the luxury market. According to Nadeem Crowe, founder of Rook Perfumes, the store was captivated by the scent's quality, with its unique creation process being a secondary yet compelling feature.

The idea for this unique project was born during the COVID-19 lockdown. Crowe, in collaboration with Melissa Gilmour of Web3 creative studio Lily & Piper, envisioned a fragrance that would resonate with the concept of the metaverse. Through a series of discussions and interactive sessions, the DAO members influenced the fragrance's development, despite logistical challenges like the safe transport of scent samples.

Gilmour emphasizes the need for a guiding force in such collaborative projects, acknowledging the complexities of balancing collective input with the creation of a desirable end product. Crowe, acting as the final decision-maker, aimed to blend the collective vision with his expertise.

Crowe criticizes some fragrance houses for superficially adopting Web3 technology without truly embracing its ethos. In contrast, "Scent of the Metaverse" is a testament to using NFT technology with genuine innovation and integrity. The fragrance itself is described as a blend of digital and natural worlds, featuring notes of white smoke, digital rose, and celestial incense.
