Ripple’s co-founder, Chris Larsen, has made a major political move, donating $10 million in XRP to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign. Larsen confirmed the donation via an Oct. 21 post on X (formerly Twitter), revealing the funds were directed to Future Forward USA, a super PAC backing Harris.

This isn’t Larsen’s first contribution to the campaign; he had already donated $1 million to the same PAC in August, marking one of the earliest significant crypto donations to Harris’s bid for the White House. Future Forward has raised over $200 million to support Harris, especially in her race against Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Trump, who once called Bitcoin a "scam," has shifted his stance slightly, promising to support crypto miners and oppose central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) if re-elected. His strong opposition to SEC Chair Gary Gensler has further solidified his appeal to certain segments of the crypto community.

Despite Larsen’s backing, some in the crypto world expressed concerns over the donation, highlighting the ongoing divide between political parties regarding cryptocurrency regulation. Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, was quick to clarify that the company remains neutral, supporting pro-crypto policies across both Democratic and Republican lines.

As crypto funding becomes a larger part of U.S. politics, super PACs like Fairshake are pouring millions into supporting candidates on both sides of the aisle, further illustrating the growing influence of digital assets on the political landscape. With the election approaching, polls indicate a tight race between Harris and Trump, making every dollar — and every XRP — count.
