Prada and Axiom Space have unveiled a designer spacesuit, the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU), during the International Astronautical Congress in Milan. This advanced spacesuit is set to be used for NASA's upcoming mission, marking the first moon landing by humans since Apollo 17 in 1972. The AxEMU features soft and hard joints for enhanced mobility, facilitating easier movement for astronauts on the Moon and while conducting scientific tasks. It includes specially designed boots to endure lunar conditions, along with biomonitoring systems. The partnership between Prada and Axiom emphasizes innovative solutions through cross-industry collaboration. Prada's expertise in materials and techniques was combined with Axiom's technological insights. This announcement follows SpaceX's recent reveal of their own spacesuits for space operations. Axiom Space, founded in 2016, is among the many private firms involved in space exploration technology.
